A few of the models in question. The Bell is modified from a Hornet II, losing its flybar in the process and gaining a brushless motor and various other mods. The HF antenna is not a dummy, its the rx antenna. The float equipped Kamov Ka15 is a minimum mod from an Esky Happy Baby, and the Omega B11 started life as 2 Piccolo Fun Flys, has gained 2 homebuilt brushless motors and some Lama2 blades, and is waiting for its fuselage. The Schweizer 300 is based on a Hornet 1, with a 3-blade rotor, brushless motor and working lights. Rotor diameters are 560mm. for the Bell, 520mm. for the Scweizer and 340mm. for the others. They all have piles of expensive electronics, including gyros, and use a computerised transmitter to allow infinite fiddling with all the variables in an attempt to make them controllable. To help setting them up I use a miniature Flight data recorder, as made by Eagletree Don't get into this hobby, it costs big bucks! The exception is the PiccoZ, an of the shelf micro, with infra-red control. Thats a 150mm rule in front of it, and the weight is about 10gm. Temporarily in Helijet colors, but crying out for a scale body. |
