While waiting for the timber delivery, I decided to get ahead on some other bits. Cathy has already painted 95% of the main room, so I did the bit in the kitchen thats going to be behind the cupboards ( its called attention to detail). Finally I've been able to set up a temporary workbench, so the new door is now in place, which I decided was preferable to the Ikea trip, given the current state of the storm season. Please don't tell the Canadian woodworkers, but I assembled the door frame with screws, not nails, so if it needs to be moved it should be possible without major vandalism. Got distracted several times during the day, as the local birds have found the feeder, and I don't know what they are without getting out the reference book.

At last the first run of flooring is down, as I've decided that we can do other work while avoiding the good area of floor. It took a bit of experimenting to perfect the assembly techniques (the normal size hammer mentioned in the instructions proved to be sadly underpowered for the job) but progress is now fast The drywalling is virtually finished, and the place is looking slightly less like a construction site.
